Infant & Toddler
Ages 6 weeks through 2 and a half
Infants are cared for by Montessori-trained infant teachers and assistants. These caring adults help infants develop strong, loving, trusting relationships and attachments that will help to prepare them socially and emotionally for adulthood. Red Hill Montessori’s toddler classroom is designed to be a gentle transition from home to school. Through close cooperation between parents and teachers, the children are gradually able to separate from their parents without anxiety in a respectful and gentle way. Red Hill teachers support the child’s natural development with the focus always on the encouragement of independence. Toddlers begin building the foundation for who they are to become. They are beginning to form their character, self esteem, social skills, and learning processes. Academically, we not only expose the children to colors and shapes, we also expose them to numbers, words and reading. We are aware of the immense impact that the first few years have on a child’s future success and happiness. The first five years determine the course of the next fifty. “The earlier the child learns to read, the better the child reads and more likely the child actually wants to read. Further, the gap between early readers and the later readers actually increases over time.” Dr. Robert Titzer, Ph.D
